In my little world

January 29, 2003

I’ve haven’t really done anything exciting or read anything too exciting in the last couple of days because I’ve been working almost non-stop. I found time to watch the very enjoyable Princess Mononoke the other day. I’ll try to find something interesting to post here today or tomorrow.

New on DVD

November 17, 2002

South Park Season 1 on DVD. Looks like fun. Apparently you can mail in the DVD’s proof of purchase and get the 5 CD director’s commentary that wasn’t included with the DVDs.

There is some new version with extended scenes of The Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring. The new version apparently doesn’t contain the theatrical release, so you’d need to be the old version as well if you wanted that. How many DVDs are they going to release for this? By the time all movies are out will I be able to purchase a giant set of all 90 DVDs or should I buy each version now?

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

November 15, 2002

I’m very excited that Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets came out today! Unfortunatly, I’m still not feeling well and won’t get to see it today. I really hope that I get to see it this weekend.

How? Tell me how!

November 8, 2002

Rachael Leigh Cook should go out with me. Why doesn’t this happen? Tell me!

I just caught the end of Josie and the Pussycats where she played Josie. It’s a fun movie, with good music, that has something to say about today’s society.

Richard Harris Dies

October 25, 2002

I was very sad to hear that Richard Harris has died. Richard most recently played Professor Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Some notable films he has done are This Sporting Life, Camelot, and A Man Called Horse. The 72 year old actor died after his short bout with Hodgkin’s disease.

Lake Placid

October 24, 2002

Awful. Lake Placid is a poorly executed attempt at comedy. I think David E. Kelly wrote this when he was 7 and his mom found it when she was cleaning house a few years ago. The movie is supposed to a horror/comedy about a 30 foot crocodile that kills two people in a small lake in Maine. The the characters are mindless drones not at all supported by the script. The only part of this movie that got me to snicker were a few lines by old lady Bickerman (played by Betty White).

The Transporter

October 21, 2002

I went to see a new action movie, The Transporter, tonight. The movie contains a lot of original fight scenes that were very nicely choreographed. The car scenes were a lot of fun, and the explosions were great. The movie stars Jason Statham as a guy who will transport anything without questions for money. He has a set of rules he always follows for his deliveries. Everything goes fine until he breaks those rules and runs in to actress Qi Shu. From there, everything goes down hill for him fast.

Yeah Baby, Yeah!

July 28, 2002

I saw Austin Powers in Goldmember today. I went with Blake, Jason, Stephen and Jag.

Upon arrival at the theater, we quickly spotted two amazingly attractive women. They were both blondes, one with pigtails, dressed almost identically wearing a white shirt and black pants. We located where they were sitting in the theater and managed to sit behind them. This made the movie even better.

The movie was great fun, playing heavily on both previous movies. I don’t want to spoil anything for you, so go see the it now.

Eight Legged Freaks

July 23, 2002

Eight Legged Freaks is probably the worst movie I have ever seen. In the top 3 for sure. Words can not describe how bad it was. Do not, under any circumstances, go see this movie.

The only things at all good about this movie were Scarlett Johansson (Ghost World) and Kari Wuhrer. Unfortunately, even their beauty couldn’t make this movie watchable.

Men In Black II

July 4, 2002

I went to see MiB2 today with Brian, Ben, Blake, and Jag. It was pretty good overall, but it was rather short and could have used a bit more action.
