Lake Placid

October 24, 2002

Awful. Lake Placid is a poorly executed attempt at comedy. I think David E. Kelly wrote this when he was 7 and his mom found it when she was cleaning house a few years ago. The movie is supposed to a horror/comedy about a 30 foot crocodile that kills two people in a small lake in Maine. The the characters are mindless drones not at all supported by the script. The only part of this movie that got me to snicker were a few lines by old lady Bickerman (played by Betty White).

Presidio Med

October 23, 2002

CBS’s new show Presidio Med, which airs on Wednesdays, is one of my favorite new shows this season. Its a show about a group of doctors working at a hospital in the Presidio district of San Francisco. The writing is wonderful and the characters and acting are great. I highly recommend everyone check this show out.

Fun with CSS

October 22, 2002

I’ve added an alternate stylesheet to make my weblog look better on my Hiptop device. Through PHP magic, the Hiptop stylesheet will now get loaded by default on the device. The stylesheet is currently mostly empty and needs a lot of work though. I’ll try to fix it up over the next few days. Shouldn’t be too hard. My weblog already looks pretty good right now and just needs some table alignment and some borders around days.

The Transporter

October 21, 2002

I went to see a new action movie, The Transporter, tonight. The movie contains a lot of original fight scenes that were very nicely choreographed. The car scenes were a lot of fun, and the explosions were great. The movie stars Jason Statham as a guy who will transport anything without questions for money. He has a set of rules he always follows for his deliveries. Everything goes fine until he breaks those rules and runs in to actress Qi Shu. From there, everything goes down hill for him fast.

Sunday’s TV

October 21, 2002

Angel has been great so far this season. I love this show, but I really need more Cordelia.

The Sopranos wasn’t as exciting as previous episodes. It could have used some more action. Seeing Tony get mad at his psychologist was kind of fun though. When are they going to do the spin-off with Meadow and me?

Alias was pretty uneventful and more predictable than normal. Why didn’t they kill off that loser Will last season? I was amused by the girl claiming to run conspiracychick.com. I still love this show, but I still don’t know why.

The Practice was quite mediocre. I’m tired of Lindsay being a victom. We saw this already. Give us something new!

They Might Be Giants documentary

October 20, 2002

Gigantic is a documentary on one of my favorite bands They Might Be Giants. I only recently found out about this documentary. It has been showing around the country at various independent film festivals and has received really high ratings. It looks like it will finish up the film festival circuit soon and will hopefully be released on DVD after that. I’m really looking forward to seeing this and hope that they release it soon!

New Toy

October 17, 2002

I purchased a T-Mobile Sidekick (aka the Danger device) on Tuesday. It is a PDA and cell phone that allows me to browse the web, AIM and email. It is very cool.

The Sidekick costs $200 after a $50 rebate. The Sidekick plan is $39.99 a month with unlimited data, 200 whenever minutes and 1000 weekend minutes.
