Happy Halloween

October 31, 2002

Boo! I hope everyone has some sort of fun costume and is ready to go trick-or-treating. I don’t have a costume yet, but I have until Friday night to find a costume. It seems likely that I will figure out my costume Friday afternoon.

People, Places, Things

October 30, 2002

Joshua Malina, from Sports Night, was on tonight’s episode of The West Wing. It was good to see him around. Pinkerton also noticed him and "did a little dance." I’m really excited that Sports Night is being released November 5 on DVD. It is one of my favorite shows of all time and if you haven’t seen it, I highly suggest you fix that now.

24

October 29, 2002

The season premiere of 24 was great! Lots of exciting things going on and more Elisha Cuthbert. I can’t wait until next week.

Congrats

Congratulations to my friend Chris Waterson. He is now a father. His daughter, Rebecca, was born on October 24. His wife and daughter are doing great. Hopefully Chris will be able to sleep every once and a while.

Balls are fun

October 29, 2002

I’m playing Bocce at Campo di Bocce in Los Gatos with some friends after lunch. Too bad my friend Garrett sucks at it and will never win.

New look

October 29, 2002

Over the last week or so I’ve been trying to come up with a new, more unique, look for my site. Here it is! I hope you like it. I’ve added some code to show what music I am currently listening to along with the album cover. The new look is all CSS. The old look can be obtained by choosing the old alternate stylesheet.

The old look was based on one of the sample Blogger templates, rewritten to use CSS for everything and to be a lot more flexible. I still like it, but I wanted something more fun and original.

World Series

October 27, 2002

Yay, The San Francisco Giants lost! I don’t like Anaheim, but I’m glad that the Giants lost after getting lucky and putting my team out of the playoffs.

Next year the Braves are going all the way!

Daylight Saving Time

Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour at 2AM.

Silly pictures

October 25, 2002

A friend of mine asked me:

Changing nothing but the number of spaces between “x”s in the following string, but without removing any spaces altogether, can you make a picture or some text or something? You may replace spaces for newlines too.

“xxx xx xx x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x xxx x x x xx xx xxx”

Here is what I came up with. It was fun to play around with. Give it a try.

Richard Harris Dies

October 25, 2002

I was very sad to hear that Richard Harris has died. Richard most recently played Professor Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Some notable films he has done are This Sporting Life, Camelot, and A Man Called Horse. The 72 year old actor died after his short bout with Hodgkin’s disease.
